Bass joins real estate law practice group at VMM

Todd Bass, VMM

Lake Success, NY Managing partner Joseph Milizio welcomed Todd Bass, Esq. to Vishnick McGovern Milizio LLP’s (VMM) real estate law practice group. Bass, counsel in the firm, has been named leader of VMM’s residential real estate area.

As a sole practitioner in Garden City for four years prior to joining VMM, Bass focused on residential and commercial real estate transactions and was responsible for assessing and determining property and project valuations as a risk management control in the scope of real estate investment projects.

Additionally, his legal work was concerned with guidance on strategic business decisions to ensure the stability and growth of the companies he represented. As general counsel to several companies, Bass handled day-to-day operations, including drafting, reviewing and negotiating contracts; non-disclosures, non-competes and buy-out agreements; among other legal functions.

Bass also has been responsible for advising clients on issues surrounding the Securities Exchange Acts of 1933, 1034, 1040 and ERISA. On other matters related to the SEC, he has handled new fund formation; regulatory form drafting and filing; and the drafting, review and negotiation of security purchase agreements during capital raises with investors.

His practice further included private equity company transactions for private placement of equity between issuing companies and private investors and/or other funds.

Bass began his professional career in the financial sector, with JP Morgan Chase and Goldman Sachs as a global compliance officer in the companies’ New York City offices. Previously, he served as office manager with diverse responsibilities for five years in a small real estate law firm on Long Island. 

Bass is a member of the Bar Associations of New York State, New York City and Nassau County. He earned his Juris Doctor degree from Touro College Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center, where he was a member of the Alexander Hamilton Inn of Court. He received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Hofstra University, majoring in Finance, Legal Studies and Business Management.
