REMCO hired for construction clean up and maintenance at One World Trade Center

REMCO, a leading architectural surface restoration and maintenance company, has signed a three-year contract with the Durst Org. to handle metal maintenance at One World Trade Center. REMCO is also providing stainless steel maintenance at the 104-story building, from now through the end of 2017. "REMCO offers generations of experience in the restoration, maintenance and preservation of a range of properties. We're honored to add what is arguably one of the world's most iconic buildings to our roster," said Kenneth Martin, CEO of REMCO. "We look forward to providing exceptional service and maintaining the incomparable aesthetic of this unique and special building." The scope of work includes maintaining and cleaning all stainless steel elements throughout the four exterior building entrances; its 74 passenger elevators; all turn styles; the exterior posts/bollards; and the landing doors throughout the lower lobby. REMCO employees are permanently assigned to work at the site each week, with staffing increasing as the building moves toward full occupancy over the next three years. REMCO has been working at the property in other capacities at the site since the beginning of 2013, providing restoration services for Tishman Construction in the sub-basement as a result of storm damage that occurred from Hurricane Sandy. One World Trade Center is located on the site of the original 6 World Trade Center, just south of the former Twin Towers between Vesey and Fulton Streets. It stands an impressive 1,776 ft., making it the tallest skyscraper in the Western Hemisphere. It is owned by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, and is managed by the Durst Organization. "We recognize REMCO as a front runner in this industry. New Yorkers and Americans at large are invested in this building, and its maintenance is of the upmost importance," said John Mongello, director of building services for the Durst Organization.
