Porzio, Bromberg & Newman expands practice with addition of four attorneys

According to the law firm Porzio, Bromberg & Newman P.C., Steven Wagner, John Wagner, Bonnie Reid Berkow and Karen Schwimmer have joined the firm. S. Wagner joins Porzio as a principal, J. Wagner and Berkow as of counsel, and Schwimmer as an associate. All will be based in Porzio's N.Y.C. office and are former members of Wagner Davis P.C., which was founded by S. Wagner in 1984. "The Wagner group's core area of real estate transactions and litigation is an area that we have been looking to further develop in our N.Y. office. Furthermore, their key strengths are complementary to those of our significant New Jersey real estate team," said D. Jeffrey Campbell, managing principal of Porzio, who is based in Morristown, NJ. "The addition of this skilled group of attorneys is in keeping with our strategic goal to broaden and diversify our client base and expand our existing capabilities," Campbell said. "This is a win-win situation for us, for Porzio and for our collective and future clients," said Steve Wagner. "With the collaborative strength this union provides, we look forward to providing the same high quality legal services, with the advantage of the additional resources and geographic reach that a larger firm provides." "With their expansive real estate practice, which bridges residential, commercial, retail and litigation, Steve and his team represent a significant new element to our client service offerings as we continue to grow our New York presence," added Christopher Schultz, resident principal in the New York City office. Steven Wagner concentrates his practice in co-op and condominium law, real estate litigation, land use, and overall real estate in the New York City area. His litigation background includes disputes for control of partnerships, corporations and limited liability companies, disputes between adjacent landowners, zoning and land use issues, commercial and residential landlord/tenant matters, regulated housing issues including Mitchell-Lama and Section 213 housing, succession rights claims, rent control and rent stabilization disputes, complex foreclosures and actions to clear title, plus a wide range of commercial and corporate disputes. In addition, Wagner has a strong and successful practice in Internet defamation law. He is a graduate of Brooklyn Law School and Oberlin College. John Wagner concentrates his practice in corporate law, real estate, leasing, trusts and estates and elder law. He is a graduate of Brooklyn Law School and Wesleyan University. Bonnie Reid Berkow has experience litigating many types of matters including construction, co-op and condominium, corporate, land use, leasing, commercial real estate, human rights and negligence law. She is a graduate of Brooklyn Law School and Dalhousie University in Nova Scotia. Karen Schwimmer represents clients in commercial real estate transactions.
