Monaghan and Pendrick elevated at Certilman Balin

East Meadow, NY Lauren Monaghan and Sandra Pendrick have been elevated to the partnership at Certilman Balin Adler & Hyman, LLP. Monaghan, previously an associate, practices in the Banking/Commercial Lending Group and Pendrick, previously of counsel, practices in the Estate & Tax Planning/Probate Law and Estate Administration Practice Groups. 

Pendrick drafts wills, complex trust agreements and other estate planning vehicles. She plans for the disposition of wealth and the minimization of taxes through comprehensive pre-death and post mortem planning. She prepares estate and gift tax returns and handles gift and estate tax audits. 

Her surrogate’s court practice includes probate and guardianship proceedings, as well as all estate litigation matters including but not limited to will contests, actions brought by or against fiduciaries, and valuation disputes. She also assists in elder law matters. For the first five years of her legal career, she was an attorney at two boutique trusts and estates law firms in Manhattan. She was also in-house counsel to the world-renowned artist, Peter Max. She earned a Masters of Taxation from New York University, a Juris Doctor, with honors, from George Washington University, and a Bachelor of Arts, cum laude, from the University of Michigan. She is a member of the New York State and Nassau County Bar Associations and is admitted to practice in the State of New York, and in the Eastern District. 

Monaghan concentrates on the representation of institutional lenders in all aspects of commercial lending, including mortgage loans, asset-based financing, leasehold financing and interest rate swap transactions.

Monaghan’s experience involves documenting and negotiating various financing transactions to small business and middle market borrowers, from review of credit approvals, preparation of loan documents to closing and funding loans. Ms. Monaghan earned her Juris Doctor from Hofstra University School of Law, where she was a member of Hofstra Law Women. She graduated from Stony Brook University with a Bachelor of Arts, cum laude, in History and a minor in English. She is member of the New York State Bar Association and the Nassau County Bar Association.
