Margolin, Winer & Evens LLP names Joyce and Schlachter as new partners

Garden City, NY According to Margolin, Winer & Evens LLP (MWE), Amy Joyce, CPA, JD, and Steven Schlachter, CPA, MBA, have been admitted to the firm’s partnership. Joyce joins the partnership representing MWE’s trusts & estates group and Schlachter joins the partnership as a member of the firm’s real estate practice, partnership taxation and international taxation groups.

Joyce, who joined MWE in 2010, specializes in estate planning and fiduciary tax compliance for high net worth individuals. In her new role, she will continue to work with clients offering expertise related to lifetime wealth transfers, succession, estate, compliance, and retirement planning. 

Joyce began her public accounting career at a Big Four firm in 1991 Her professional associations include the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Trusts and Estates Section of the New York State Bar Association and the American Academy of Attorney-Certified Public Accountants.  She hold a B.S. in Accountancy from Long Island University and a JD from St. John’s University.

Schlachter is an accomplished tax practitioner and consultant, providing leadership and guidance in tax structuring, commercial real estate ventures, overseeing multi-state and multinational tax engagements, and advising high net worth private investors in the U.S. and abroad.  He is an active member of the firm’s Real Estate Practice and Partnership Taxation Groups and is a specialist in the firm’s International Tax Group.

Schlachter joined MWE in 2005 following previous tax experience at a Big Four firm and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He has an MBA from Hofstra University and also received a BA from City University of New York-Brooklyn College.

When Environmental Site Assessments (ESA) were first part of commercial real estate risk management, it was the lenders driving this requirement. When a borrower wanted a loan on a property, banks would utilize a list of “Approved Consultants” to order the report on both refinances and purchases.
