Kelly elected president of LI Builders Institute

Michael Francis Kelly, Esq. principal of Kelly Development Corp. has been elected president of the Long Island Builders Institute. Kelly brings a vast knowledge of the building industry to his position. As principal of Kelly Development he focuses on the development of small sub-divisions. He also consultants with various organizations such as The Long Island Housing Partnership, Avalon Bay Communities and the Clare Rose Organization. Kelly is also a partner with Sean Rose in Rose and Kelly Development, LLC. Their work is centered on redeveloping blighted sites throughout Long Island. Kelly was the vice president of Land Acquisitions for Pulte Homes of Long Island. His experience also includes work with a local law firm and mortgage banking. "Our industry has been through the worst two and a half years in recent memory. My day to day experience in the real estate field both as a business owner and an attorney provide me with a unique view of the building industry. My goal is to develop strategic partnerships with our towns and villages and to educate them on the economic value of the building industry on Long Island. For many years the building industry on Long Island was the backbone of the Long Island economy. As builders we understand that the traditional single family home model of providing for our residents is changing along with the demographics of the Island. Our message to the local decision makers is that we are ready to work with them to meet the changing needs of our population. If we don't provide homes that our young professionals can afford and desire - businesses on Long Island will not thrive." In addition to his work with LIBI, Mr. Kelly serves on the Board of Directors of the Down Syndrome Advocacy Foundation. He is also a member of the NY State Bar and its Committee on Land Use and Real Estate Legislation. He is the Town of Brookhaven's representative for the Suffolk County Planning Commission and a member of the Business Improvement District for the Village of Patchogue. Mike graduated from Chaminade High School and has a B.S. in Finance from Providence College, an MBA from the University of St. Thomas, Minnesota and a Juris Doctorate from Touro Law School.
