Fentress Architects breaks ground on 467,000 s/f Charles Schwab campus
Fentress Architects and Mortenson Construction celebrated breaking ground on the new $200 million, 467,000 s/f Charles Schwab campus that will be located on a 40-plus-acre site. Charles Schwab Corp. Founder and chairman Charles Schwab, governor John Hickenlooper, mayor of city of Lone Tree Jim Gunning, and Douglas county commissioner Jill Repella spoke at the event. With Schwab's service center facilities currently spread among three leased buildings, the company set out to create a unified regional campus for its Denver workforce.
Fentress Architects, a Colorado headquartered firm that specializes in creating sustainable state-of-the-art office design, and Mortenson Construction, one of the nation's top builders, were hired to create the new highly-efficient and flexible campus for Charles Schwab's 1,800 regional employees.
Careful Site Selection | Schwab exercised a great deal of care choosing the location of the new campus. The company's real estate team studied six site possibilities, and contracted Fentress Architects to do a full evaluation and analysis of each. After extensive consideration they concluded RidgeGate in Lone Tree would best suit their needs, largely due to the welcoming community, close vicinity to bike paths, parks, trails, the Lone Tree Recreation Center, the Lone Tree Arts Center, and a range of shops and restaurants within walkable distance. The site is also adjacent to a planned RTD Light Rail stop.
The new campus will include a two-story retail branch building, two additional five-story office buildings, a parking garage and a centrally located amenities building that will feature a 15,000-square-foot dining facility for employees and a moveable glass partition that can collapse to form a more spacious multi-purpose event room.
