East Meadow, NY Richard Cronin and Erin O’Brien have joined Certilman Balin Adler & Hyman, LLP as partners in the tax certiorari and condemnation law practice group. They were both formerly partners at the firm, Cronin, Cronin, Harris & O’Brien, P.C., located in Mineola.

Cronin represents owners of various types of commercial property in real estate tax review proceedings throughout the state of New York.  His thorough knowledge of Nassau County’s tax lien laws has helped property owners in Nassau to obtain further reductions in real estate taxes. Cronin also represents claimants in Eminent Domain proceedings throughout the State of New York. A member of the New York State Bar Association and both the Nassau and Suffolk County Bar Associations, he currently serves as co-chair of the Nassau County Tax Certiorari committee. Active in his community, he is an active member of the Nassau County Bar Association’s Mentorship Program.  He also serves on the associate board of the Association of a Better Long Island (ABLI). Cronin was named to the 2019 New York Metro Rising Star’s list. He earned his Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, from Fordham University School of Law. He was elected Order of the Coif, having graduated in the top 10% of his class, and was a member of the Intellectual Property Law Journal.

O’Brien has litigated before the supreme and appellate courts throughout the state of New York, creating legal precedent with the arena of tax certiorari law. Admitted to practice in the eastern district, as well as the states of New York and Connecticut, O’Brien is a member of the New York State Assessors’ Association, the New York State Bar Association, and both the Nassau and Suffolk County Bar Associations. In addition, she serves on their tax certiorari and real property committees. O’Brien earned her juris doctor from the City University of New York School of Law where she was a member of Law Review. She earned her bachelor of arts from North Carolina State University.
