New York, NY Kensington Vanguard National Land Services has hired Donald Carey, a title insurance industry veteran and son of the New York governor Hugh Carey, as a senior executive vice president in the Business Development Division.

“Don brings his vast experience and leadership skills to KV and is a perfect complement to our thriving business development team,” said Jarett Fein, co-chief executive of KV. “Don has had and continues to have an extremely impressive career in the title insurance industry having exponentially grown his business spanning more than a decade with both Fidelity National Title and First American Title, two of the nation’s largest title insurance underwriters.”

Carey also worked for over 15 years at Goldman Sachs and Credit Suisse First Boston. As a recognized leader in the public finance industry Carey managed new issue bond sales for some of the nation’s largest issuers. During his public finance tenure, Carey was credited with designing transactions that made it easier for issuers and investors to align their goals.

“I made the move to KV at this point in my career because I was looking for an exciting, energetic and positive environment with a strong collaborative culture where sales and operations work in hand-in-hand to provide the best possible customer experience,” Carey said. “It was clear from the start that this was the right place for me in light of the shared philosophies and core principles of KV.”

Fein added, “Since coming aboard, Don has become an instant leader and has been a great addition to our exceptional team. We are looking forward to all he has to offer and to helping him achieve all of his professional goals.”

Carey is active in many community organizations such as the NYC Economic Development Corp. board, the Franciscan Sisters Foundation board and the Mobile Kitchen Classroom board.

He is married to Mary Anne Schmitt-Carey who is the president of Say Yes to Education, a non-profit firm changing education in inner-city schools one student at a time.
