Calamar and regional dignitaries join for construction launch of new Niagara EMS Fleet Operations and Logistical Centre

Calamar executives and regional dignitaries from Niagara-on-the-Lake were on hand for the official construction launch of Niagara Region's new Emergency Medical Services' (Niagara EMS) Fleet Operations and Logistical Services Centre. The new facility, located in Calamars Compass Centre near the Glendale gateway and interchange at the QEW, will house the fleet centre, supplies and quartermaster store. The Compass Centre is a business park centrally located within the Niagara region, developed, built and managed by Calamar. "We were pleased to learn earlier this year that Niagara-on-the-Lake would be home to this centre," said Lord mayor Dave Eke. "It's even more exciting today as we move closer to it becoming a reality. Given the ease of access via the QEW and other major arterials, and its proximity to high-density ambulance usage, this location makes complete sense for a facility of this kind." "Niagara EMS is committed to providing the high quality pre-hospital care across the region we are known for," said regional chair Gary Burroughs. "This new fleet centre location will meet Niagara EMS' evolving requirements while creating a number of efficiencies for this important function of the service." Calamar chairman & CEO, Kenneth Franasiak said, "We are absolutely thrilled that the Niagara Region selected The Compass Centre for this important project. The Glendale region is experiencing a massive building boom with over $1.5 billion in new construction. This area is growing predominately because of the leadership and vision of Lord mayor Dave Eke and regional chair Gary Burroughs." The facility will be used for secure, indoor storage for ambulances; new decontamination services; storage and preventative maintenance for equipment and operation logistics.
