Manhattan, NY Meridian Retail Leasing arranged a 15-year lease for Shah’s Halal at 720 Amsterdam Ave. in the Upper West Side.
Meridian’s Noam Aziz and Carson Sharabani represented both the landlord, Esther Perlstein, and the tenant in the transaction.
The space was previously occupied by The Halal Guys, which recently closed its doors.
Founded in 2005 with a single food cart in Richmond Hill, Queens, Shah’s Halal has grown into a 100% Halal certified brand with over 150 locations across the U.S., U.K., Canada, and Sweden. Headquartered in New York, the company remains family-owned, with a focus on delivering welcoming, high-quality experiences that resonate across diverse communities.
In addition to its retail space, 720 Amsterdam Ave. is a five-story mixed-use building built in 1920, featuring 30 residential units above. Located at the intersection of Amsterdam Ave. and West 95th St., the property is in one of the city’s most culturally rich and residentially vibrant corridors, where a mix of long-time locals, students, and young families drive steady foot traffic and neighborhood engagement.
“This is a brand with New York roots and global reach, which makes it a perfect match for this part of the Upper West Side,” said Aziz. “We’re proud to have helped place a concept that will resonate with such a broad and loyal customer base.”
Sharabani said, “It’s not just about filling a vacancy — it’s about placing the right tenant in the right location. Shah’s Halal understands how to connect with diverse urban audiences, and we’re confident they’ll thrive in this space for years to come.”
