“Gianna is one of the most accomplished construction project managers at our firm. She is a consummate professional and an enthusiastic adopter of digital technologies in project management, including Wesbuilt’s COLLAB BIM system. She manages project teams and interactions with clients and consultants with respect, team spirit, encouragement and tact.” - Donal McIntyre, President at Wesbuilt Construction Managers.

What do you like best about being a woman in the AEC industry? Female AEC professionals are respected and appreciated. I grew up in a family of construction tradesmen and have experienced the industry and the satisfaction of completing projects early on. Wesbuilt encourages professional development and has entrusted me with project management responsibilities on some of the firm’s most challenging assignments.

What is one of the most exciting developments or innovations impacting the AEC industry right now? Construction industry has been slow to adopt technology, but that has been changing. Wesbuilt is one of a few medium-sized contactors in the U.S. to create 3D laser scans and BIM models of all projects in-house, eliminating conflicts and accelerating delivery. Firms like mine lead the way in digitalizing the construction process, significantly improving construction quality.

What recent project, accomplishment or award are you most proud of? Two of my recent projects have been incredibly satisfying. The 6,000 s/f U.S. flagship store of Indian home décor and sari brand Sabyasachi was a one-of-a-kind project reminiscent of elaborate, luxury Indian palaces. The 217 W. 20th St. luxury townhouse was a $22.5 million, six-story residential project with numerous technical and design innovations.
