“Pat joined MADGI Design in 2021 as Junior Designer and has since become an important member of the firm’s architectural team. He now serves as a Job Captain, entrusted with work on some of the most complex design projects in New York City, including the redevelopment of Rockefeller Center’s famed Top of The Rock experience.” - Richard DeMarco, Principal, MADGI Design.
What recent professional milestone or project are you most proud of, and why? I currently work on the ongoing redesign of three penthouses and the 6,250 s/f courtyard at Starwood Capital-owned, landmarked The Chatsworth co-op building at 344 W. 72nd St. in Manhattan. Our team is upgrading and adding full accessibility to the courtyard’s common area and private patios for ground-level units, also recently designed by MADGI. On the top floors, we are redesigning 3 large penthouses totaling over 12,500 s/f to combine the historic ambiance with contemporary functionality and luxury appliances, including a new 1,000 s/f rooftop addition. This project required LPC permits.
Who has been pivotal in your professional development, and how have they influenced you? MADGI’s Head of Architecture Studio, Richard Moon, AIA, has been my mentor since I joined the firm four years ago. He has taught me how to handle difficult issues with tact and efficiency and how to communicate effectively with clients and team members through respectful and focused interactions. I apply these lessons to my work daily.
