Silverstein joins CapitalSource as managing director, real estate group

According to CapitalSource, Mark Silverstein has joined the firm as a managing director, focusing on commercial real estate secondary market transactions. Silverstein will manage distribution and syndication of commercial real estate loans nationwide. He will be based in the firm's New York office, reporting to Chris Kelly. CapitalSource provides senior debt for all types of commercial real estate transactions ranging in size from approximately $10 million to $150 million. "Mark is a seasoned commercial real estate professional with deep expertise in commercial real estate secondary market transactions, including whole loans, participations, B Notes and mezzanine loans," said Kelly, managing director of the Real Estate Group at CapitalSource. "As market conditions improve and deal flow increases, we are better prepared—with Mark on board—to pursue larger and more structured transactions which will extend our reach into the market and enhance our originations growth." Prior to joining CapitalSource, Silverstein was with Credit Suisse for approximately 14 years, where he served most recently as a managing director in the CMBS group. Earlier in his career, he worked in the CMBS group at Nomura Securities, and prior to that was a commercial real estate broker at Cushman & Wakefield in Los Angeles. Silverstein earned a bachelor of science and a master of Business Administration in finance from Boston University.
