RXR CEO Rechler to receive ULI’s 2026 Visionary Leadership award on April 29, 2026

Manhattan, NY The Urban Land Institute New York (ULI NY) will honor Scott Rechler, chairman and chief executive officer at RXR, as the recipient of the 2026 Visionary Leadership in Land Use Award. The award will be presented at the 10th Annual Awards for Excellence in Development Gala on April 29, 2026, at Ziegfeld Ballroom.

Each year the award recognizes a leader in New York’s real estate community who embodies the mission, vision, and values of the ULI and who has had a transformational impact on our region and the industry. The recipient must also have demonstrated an enduring commitment through civic engagement to industry associations, causes, and initiatives. Past award recipients include Larry Silverstein, Ron Moelis, Kirk Goodrich, Veronica Hackett, and Mary Ann Tighe.

Rechler is being recognized for his sustained dedication to reshaping New York City’s skyline and landscape through transformative projects that balance economic growth with community impact. Under his leadership, RXR specializes in public-private partnerships and master developments, including the $4 billion development of Terminal 6 at JFK International Airport, the multi-billion dollar master plan for downtown New Rochelle, and a 1,100-acre, $3 billion mixed-use development in Raleigh, N.C. Rechler’s unique ability to merge visionary real estate leadership with deep civic responsibility reflects ULI’s mission and exemplifies why he is the 2026 recipient of this award.

RXR is a fully integrated real estate company and investment manager that owns and manages over 30 million square feet of commercial properties and more than 9,600 multifamily units across New York and the nation. RXR also operates a billion-dollar credit platform that leverages its real estate expertise for various commercial real estate lending products. RXR’s expanding geographical footprint extends beyond the New York metropolitan region into some of the nation’s fastest-growing markets, such as Phoenix, Denver, Dallas, Raleigh, and Tampa. Rechler’s vision has helped RXR raise more than $10 billion in private equity while building a multidisciplinary team recognized for expertise in investment, operations, construction, and development.

Known for his civic leadership, Rechler is in his second three-year term on the board of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, which supervises the Second Federal Reserve District, the largest Reserve Bank in terms of assets and activity volume. Scott is also a trustee and Vice Chair of the National September 11th Memorial & Museum, and serves on the boards of NYU, Northwell Health, and the Feinstein Institutes for Medical Research. He previously served as vice chair of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, was a member of the board of the MTA, the largest public transportation provider in North America, and chaired the Regional Plan Association (RPA). His career demonstrates how visionary leadership can foster both economic growth and positive social change across the New York region and beyond.

The Tenth Annual Awards for Excellence Gala, co-chaired by Rachel Loeb, chief investment officer at Benenson Capital Partners, Sarah Hawkins, senior managing director, head of US East at Hines, and Hilary Spann, executive vice president, New York region at BXP, will showcase exceptional local projects that are redefining how the industry and the public approach city-building. The gala recognizes outstanding development projects in the private, public, and nonprofit sectors across New York State that best exemplify ULI’s commitment to shaping the future of the built environment for transformative impact in communities statewide. The program honors the full development process from design and planning, to sustainability, resilience, and community impact. Winners and honorees will be celebrated at the gala on April 29, 2026.
