Remembering NYSCAR member James Kelly

Syracuse, NY New York State Commercial Association of Realtors lost a great colleague and friend, James Michael Kelly passed away suddenly on May 9, 2025.

Jim studied Business, Real Estate and Construction Management at Syracuse University. He went on to work with his father as a home builder and later established his own business as a commercial real estate broker.

Jim served on the board of governors of the NYSCAR for many years. An active member of the board, Jim was the 2025 chair of the communications committee and membership committee; he attended many of the education and conference events over the years and was always a pleasure to work with – always had a smile for everyone. He was honored with the NYSCAR Realtor of the Year Award in 2022. 

He was a Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM), and served as a past president of the Upstate NY CCIM Chapter. 

Jim was an amazing friend, mentor and confidant to many in his community and beyond. His family was most important to him. He was proud of his heritage which included the Cavalry Club where he served as a long-time board member.
