Professional Women in Construction host two member events in July

New York, NY Professional Women in Construction (PWC) celebrated existing members and welcomed new members by holding two successful member networking events in the month July.

The PWC Membership Committee held an intimate networking event for new members at the OFS New York Showroom. This experience allowed new members to make introductions and give insight into their fields of work and interests. Current members were given the opportunity to discuss their experience participating in PWC and its various committees.

“It was a lovely gathering, and everyone was so welcoming and happy to be there in that spectacular space. Meeting new people is always fun for me and there were lots of good conversations which makes the evening a resounding success for me,” said new member, Sarah Johnson.

The following week, the MWBE Committee held a Happy Hour event on the Hudson River at the docked boat restaurant, The Frying Pan. Members networked over drinks and delicious foods, sharing their current and upcoming projects. This event was sponsored by Skanska and the Swinerton Foundation.

PWC New York is the founding chapter of Professional Women in Construction (PWC), a national nonprofit organization founded in 1980 that seeks to support, advance, and connect women and promote diversity within the architecture, engineering, construction (AEC) and related industries. PWC’s members represent a broad spectrum of the industry that serves real estate owners, developers, facilities and property managers and public agencies. They include general construction and specialty contractors, architectural and engineering firms, environmental services, and suppliers. Because the core client industries have many needs, PWC also draws representatives from the services sector: law and accounting firms, insurance/surety and bonding companies, banks and financial services, graphic designers, printers, computer consultants, travel agencies, marketing specialists and more. Membership is open to professional women and men, private companies and public agencies in construction and allied industries.
