April 24, 2009 - Long Island
The Association for a Better Long Island (ABLI) and the Commercial Industrial Brokers Society (CIBS) presented their 2009 Lifetime Achievement Award to veteran developer Frederick Colin.
The award was presented to Colin at the annual black-tie Long Island Real Estate Dinner on April 2, at Carlyle on the Green in Bethpage State Park. ABLI president Mitchell Rechler and CIBS president Jeffrey Schwartzberg presented the award,
Colin, who has been in the commercial real estate business since the early 1950s, is the owner of Manhasset, N.Y.-based Colin Construction and Management Co. and Colin Development LLC. He is a resident of Roslyn Estates.
"Always a gentleman and always in front of the market, Fed continues his role as an extraordinary industry leader and we can't think of a more serving award," Rechler said.
Colin entered the real estate industry at the age of 20, when he was a mortgage solicitor by day and a graduate real estate student at night.
"My experience as a mortgage solicitor taught me to work hard, be honest, address every task promptly and accurately, have an uncompromising knowledge of your business, and understand each of your customers," he said. "These lessons remain with me today."
