Brooklyn, NY Design Within Reach (DWR), the furniture and home décor retailer, has renewed its 39,440 s/f outlet store lease at Industry City in Sunset Park. The 10-year lease extension underscores the brand’s continued success on campus and the ongoing evolution of Industry City’s Design District.

Jim Somoza, partner and managing director of Industry City, represented the landlord in the transaction. DWR was represented by Jason Greenstone and Justin Royce of Cushman & Wakefield.

Founded in 1998, DWR is known for its focus on quality, craftsmanship, and clean aesthetics, along with bringing the work of designers like Eames, Saarinen, and Nelson to the public. DWR is a subsidiary of MillerKnoll.

“Design Within Reach was one of the early adopters of Industry City’s vision for a vertically integrated creative campus,” said Somoza. “Their long-term renewal is a testament to the strength of the design ecosystem here, and their outlet remains one of the most visited retail destinations on campus.”

DWR is one of more than a dozen design and homeware retailers that anchor The Industry City Design District. A hub for architecture and design studios as well as homewares shopping, the district features over 125,000 s/f of design retailers including major brand outlets like West Elm, ABC Carpet & Home as well as bespoke retailers. The complex has enticed high-end interiors and design brands to put down roots, including Staged to Sell, Cowtan & Tout, cityFoundry and more.

Located along the Second Ave. corridor, in Building 3, the DWR Outlet spans two floors and offers an ever-changing inventory of overstocked, returned and modern furnishings at significant discounts. The outlet is known for its distinct shopping experiences where no two visits are the same. DWR leverages the space as a resource center for customers and industry professionals working on design projects. With tools like mood boards, 3D renderings, and in-store consultations, the store helps customers visualize and execute their interiors while reinforcing DWR’s role within the local design ecosystem.
