Manhattan, NY The Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS) New York Mentorship Program is an available resource within the professional architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) marketing community, fostering relationships that support career development.

The co-chairs of the SMPS New York Mentorship Program, Jeffrey Taub, FSMPS, CPSM, senior vice president at AKRF, Inc., and Julie Pampuch, managing principal at WB Engineers + Consultants, exemplify the dedication and leadership that drives the program forward. Their commitment to empowering professionals and fostering a nurturing environment has been instrumental in the program’s success. Under their guidance, the mentorship program has continued to thrive since the retirement of longtime chairs Martha Huguet and Patricia Neumann, offering participants invaluable opportunities for growth, learning, and professional advancement.

A mentee, Natalie Molina, business generation and marketing coordinator at Turner & Townsend, said, “I have been a part of the mentorship group since first joining SMPS in 2022. Having been a part of the group for a few years now, the experience became much different when not having to ‘start from scratch’ building a relationship with my mentor.”

Our first year together meant getting to know each other, sharing some of my ambitions and goals for the year and trying to create a pathway forward. Now, our conversations are much richer with previous knowledge to use as lessons learned for new goals and challenges. Not to mention, my mentor has become a close confidante and a special friend. Our meetups consist of grabbing a nice cup of coffee or sharing dinner to talk about work and mentorship and then wrap it up with catching up on our daily lives.”

Taub said, “Being an SMPS New York mentor the last six years has been among the most rewarding decisions of my career. I have received as much value from my mentees as I hoped to give them and only wish I had found the program earlier in my career. Chairing the program now with Julie is equally gratifying.”

The SMPS New York Mentorship Program offers an opportunity for newcomers to join a learning environment. Participants can gain knowledge and share their own experiences with mentors, creating a supportive network for professional growth. The program is open to new mentors who can contribute their expertise and insights. Fresh perspectives are valued, and the group strives to assist participants in reaching their career goals.

The SMPS New York Mentorship Program has offered valuable panels for professional growth, including “Useful vs. Valuable,” “Charting Your Career Path,” “Demystifying the Elevator Speech,” and “Leadership Panel: Multi-Directional Management.” Programs were virtual during the COVID years , then shifted to hybrid formats. These sessions have provided essential insights and practical advice to help participants excel in their careers.
