Biotechnology company Cresilon has signed a 55,000 s/f, 10-year expansion lease for its U.S. headquarters and lab space, more than doubling its footprint from 27,000 s/f.
Therapeutic discovery company Rumi Scientific has signed a five-year, 6,510 s/f lease at Building 4 for its research and development lab.
Senior vice president of leasing for Industry City, Jeff Fein, represented the landlord in the Cresilon deal; CBRE vice president Josh Pernice represented Cresilon. Fein and Nick Shears, vice president of leasing for Industry City, represented the landlord in the Rumi Scientific deal.
Cresilon, Inc. is a Brooklyn-based, privately-held medical device company focused on hemostatic technologies that improve wound care and advance the standard of medical treatments. Founded by Joe Landolina from his New York University dorm room, Cresilon developed a plant-based gel that stops life-threatening bleeding in seconds. Alongside co-founder and fellow NYU alum Isaac Miller, Landolina has helped scale Cresilon into a leading biomedical company, attracting over $100 million in funding.
Rumi Scientific is a biotechnology company pioneering new approaches to therapeutic discovery for neurological and kidney diseases. Using its proprietary human tissue modeling platform, Rumi accelerates the identification and development of novel drug candidates to treat a wide range of disorders.
Industry City has seen a notable uptick in biotech leasing, driven by growing demand for flexible lab infrastructure and the campus’s strategic positioning – offering companies a rare mix of connectivity, purpose-built space that unlocks operational efficiencies, and a dynamic campus culture that supports both innovation and talent retention.
“Cresilon’s expansion at Industry City is especially rewarding because it reflects a years-long partnership supporting their growth and ensuring they have the right space to scale,” said Fein. “With Rumi Scientific joining the campus, we’re excited to build a similar partnership and further grow an ecosystem where biotech innovators thrive alongside like-minded peers in a supportive, future-focused environment.”
Cresilon’s expanded space will allow the company to considerably increase its manufacturing capacity and continue to drive advancements in revolutionary medical technologies with facilities for research, development and manufacturing. Rumi Scientific will relocate from its current lab space at the New York Blood Center to an office and lab facility in Building 4. The companies join a growing list of biotech companies at Industry City, including Phoenix Nest and AOM Fusion.
“Industry City’s partnership over the past decade has played a critical role in Cresilon’s growth, from inventing new lifesaving products in our original lab space to receiving FDA approval during our time on campus, and we’re excited to deepen our roots with an expanded presence,” said Landolina. “The vibrant campus life, with its energy, amenities, and sense of connection, has created an environment our employees are energized by – which has been instrumental in our company reaching our next phase of growth.”
“Rumi looks forward to bringing its headquarters to Industry City, which shares the spirit of collaboration and community that our company is founded on,” said Ignacio Muñoz-Sanjuán, CEO at Rumi Scientific “With the support of a vibrant, innovation-driven campus, we’re well-positioned to accelerate our efforts to find treatments for some of the most challenging neurological diseases.”
