NYSCAR mourns loss of board member Furlani
Albany, NY On May 1st, our friend and long-time NYSCAR board member, Gordon Furlani (Greater Capital Chapter) passed away.
Furlani served on the NYSCAR board for many years and was instrumental in the formation of NYSCAR. He was always willing to help out with any of the committees and the annual conference. He was proudly honored with the 2019 NYSCAR Realtor of the Year Award.
An active member of CIREB, Furlani served as their president in 1990.
Furlani’s professional career in banking and real estate took him to several cities, including Buffalo, NY, and Malden, Mass., before he returned home to Schenectady. He served his country in the NY National Guard. Wherever he lived, Furlani was a committed advocate for urban revitalization and economic development, actively participating in local Chambers of Commerce in Buffalo, Malden, and Schenectady.
Locally, he held roles in the commercial loan department at Trustco Bank and in real estate with Blake Realty, ReMax, and ultimately CBRE, where he served as an associate broker.
Deeply proud of his Italian heritage, Furlani was the secretary of the IDAKA Forum, supporting Italian immigrants and trades people in the city. He also served as chairman of the Schenectady Municipal Golf Course advisory committee, where he worked tirelessly to improve the course and help it generate revenue for the city he so dearly loved.
Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the Electric City Community Grocery, PO Box 1416, Schenectady, NY 12305 and kindly place Gordon Furlani’s name in the memo line.
We will miss our friend dearly.
