2025 Women in Construction: Erica Mulligan, JB&B
Associate
JB&B
What is one project or achievement in your career that you are most proud of, and how did it impact your organization or community?
The project I’m most proud of is the Cornell Tech Roosevelt Island campus. I was part of the design team for the central utility plant, which provides power to the rest of the buildings on the campus. It was the very first project I got to work on from start to finish, from schematic design all the way through construction administration and closeout! I learned so much from this experience and am extremely honored to have been part of a project that supports the graduate students on campus while giving back to the next generation of technology-focused individuals and leaders.
Who or what has inspired you most in your career, and what advice would you share with the next generation of women entering the A/E/C industry?
Advice I would share is to get more involved in the industry. For me, Professional Women in Construction (PWC) played a huge role in shaping who I am today. As a member, I joined the Professional Development Advisory Council and have served as its chair. I’ve created my network of mentors and friends as well as grown in my own career thanks to PWC NY. My direct manager has inspired and championed me at every step of my career, as have my parents & my fiancé. My advice to the next generation of women: create your own support system, people who can guide you and push you beyond your comfort zone.
What’s your favorite way to recharge or get inspired outside of work?
I co-captain JB&B’s softball and volleyball teams. It’s a fun way to exercise while team-building!
