NYSPE to host holiday party Dec. 10; Lawitts of NYC DEP is speaker

The New York chapter of the New York Society of Professional Engineers (NYSPE) is hosting its 2008 Holiday Dinner Party on December 10 at 6 p.m. at the Cornell Club. The guest of honor is the acting commissioner of the New York City Dept. of Environmental Protection Agency (NYC DEP) Steven Lawitts. Lawitts will speak about the future of the NYC DEP and its proposed major capital programs. The program is sponsored by Tutoring By Engineers, Inc., a not-for-profit organization dedicated to fostering future engineers. This party and its program will be highly informative for developers, property owners, asset managers and design professionals and provide an opportunity to learn more and to participate in the importance of tutoring and role models in engineering education. There will be also be a short presentation by James Yarmus, P.E. on ethics in engineering. NYS licensed attendees (PEs and RAs) will earn one PDH credit hour provided they attend the lecture by Yarmus. Additional information about this event can be seen on NYSPE's website.
