Albany, NY After two long years, the New York State Commercial Association of Realtors Annual Conference was held on June 6-8 at the Turning Stone Resort and Casino, Verona! Conference chairman, Robert Strell (WNY) said, “It was great to see everyone in person this year!”

Stanley Gniazdowski, CCIM instructed “Land Lease Development Analysis” on June 6. The course was well received by the participants who received 6 hours of CE credit.

As always, the marketing session was a big hit of the conference. Attendees thoroughly enjoyed the fast-paced session generating potential brokerage transactions. It was an eye-opening networking event for many who attended for the first time and said they will be back to present their properties next year! Program coordinators John Lavelle and Paul Hakim, CCIM assisted moderator Stewart Scovil in running the high energy program.

Jared Burns, Legislative and Political Affairs Coordinator, NYS Association of Realtors gave a timely Legislative Update to the attendees and organization updates were given by Dana Crocker, NYSCAR president, Colby Smith, Upstate NY CCIM Chapter president and Stewart Scovil for Society of Exchange Counselors (SEC).

For several years, NYSCAR has supported the Central NY Veterans’ Outreach and this year was no exception. A donation was given to John Zygmunt “Ziggy” to help support the Outreach Center which is so important during these times.

NYSCAR has been holding their board meetings virtually for the last two years due to the pandemic and consequently were not able to present some important awards in person. Therefore, during the lunch session, past president James Walker, CCIM (NYSCAR President, 2020-2021) and Guy Blake, CCIM (NYSCAR President 2018 -2019) were presented with a past president plaque in recognition of their untiring service while serving as NYSCAR president. Karen Klecar (Binghamton) was given her award as Realtor of the Year for 2020.

Joseph Larkin, CCIM, MCR, SIOR teaching a Syndication class

June 8^th featured two three-hour commercial classes with national instructor Joseph Larkin, CCIM, MCR, SIOR from Denver, CO. Joe’s passion for real estate was quite evident as he presented “Building a Commercial Real Estate Team” and “Bringing Sellers and Buyers together with Real Estate Syndication.”

The luncheon program featured Francis Gorman, III (FL), Harris Beach, who gave a very interesting overview of the New York Cannabis Real Estate Market.
