IREM NYC attends leadership retreat in Chicago April 25-27

May 10, 2022 - Owners Developers & Managers
Of course, the best part of the retreat was reconnecting with old friends and colleagues and making new ones. We had a wonderful time at a cocktail party at the Signature Room at the 95th (the John Hancock Building). New York, NY IREM NYC Chapter leaders gathered together on April 25-27 for a leadership retreat in Chicago.

We had three days together to grow our leadership skills and to enhance our chapter roles and professional lives as real estate  asset and property managers. And a lot of fun was had along the way.

The retreat was kicked off with a keynote address by leadership expert Ryan Leak author of “Chasing Failure.” Leak discussed what fear ultimately costs us, our teams and our organizations. He said that In times of challenge and great uncertainty it’s easy to feel paralyzed by fear, but what if we could stand in the face of fear and know that these are the exact moments in life where we can rise to be our best selves? We were all entranced and uplifted by his talk.

IREM is committed to diversity, equity and inclusion and we have partnered with Steps, a behavioral change consultancy. Steps presented an interactive session focusing on inclusive leadership and a customized program to create an awareness of the value of DEI; a look at the role of unconscious bias and how it affects our decision making and culture and they identified practical, meaningful steps we can each take to create a more inclusive culture in IREM and in our respective workplaces.
