Port Jefferson, NY Officials of the Town of Brookhaven Industrial Development Agency (IDA) joined with principals of the developer, the Gitto Group, to mark the opening on July 26 of phase I of The Hills, a 74-unit apartment project on Texaco Ave. Gitto’s Rail Realty LLC affiliate received IDA incentives for the project. The 38 units in the first-completed building were completely pre-leased and there is a waiting list for the second building, due to be completed next year. At a ceremony to mark the opening, Gitto principal Tony Gitto told the gathering that the IDA whole supported the project, which is expected to spur revitalization efforts in what is known as Upper Port, and that the project could not have been done without the agency’s assistance.
