SSE promotes Schack to director of planning

Sam Schwartz Engineering (SSE) has promoted Daniel Schack, AICP, PTP, to director of planning in the New York City office. Among Schack's more notable achievements is the Transportation Demand Management Plan for Forest City Ratner's Barclays Center. The program led to actual car volumes 40% below pre-game peak hour goals, and 20% below post-game peak hour goals. "It's always a matter of pride for me when someone we nurture from the beginning of their career proves as talented and ambitious as Dan," said Samuel Schwartz, P.E., president and CEO. "We are thrilled that he has reached this milestone." As director of planning, Schack is responsible for the management of various planning projects and the development of SSE's planning department in the New York area. "I'm very excited to take on a new role leading a team of such talented individuals and look forward to representing SSE's planning group," said Schack. Schack first joined SSE in October 2004 as a transportation planner and later served as a project manager in the traffic engineering department in New York City. Schack contributes 10 years of experience in project management, transportation planning, transportation demand management programs, traffic impact studies, pedestrian analyses, and traffic management plans to SSE.He is a member of the American Planning Association, the American Institute of Certified Planners, the Institute of Transportation Engineers and the Pedestrian and Bicycle Council and Sustainability Task Force of ITE. He holds a master of City Planning from the University of Pennsylvania and a bachelor of srts from New York University.
