LICN Breakfast meeting creates another real estate transaction
March 10, 2014 - Long Island
Another success story of LICN members doing business with one another has come to light. Each LICN Breakfast meeting has a "Haves & Wants" time to state the properties you have available and/or those you seek to meet the needs of your clients. This allows members to become aware of the inventory and needs of the others. In this case the success is that Bob Stark of Douglas Elliman closed on a mixed-use property in Island Park consisting of two storefronts, a two-bedroom apartment and a separate warehouse in the rear.
This was a referral of a fellow member Harvey Kolin of Corporate Commercial Realty back in 2011.
The property was on the market until it was damaged by Hurricane Sandy. However, Stark did eventually find a buyer. This buyer needed to do a 1031 tax exchange.
The seller was also interested in doing a 1031 tax exchange so Stark referred his client, the seller, to a long-time sponsor Matt Scheriff of 1031 legal exchange. Three members working together expanding their business opportunities.
