March 13, 2013 - Brokerage
USGBC-LI will hold an April 4th USGBC-LI program titled "Sustainable Transportation: Unclogging Long Island's Roadways." The session, held from 5:30 - 8:30 p.m., will discuss the negative impacts of transportation on Long Island, review the potential benefits of several proposed transportation initiatives, review the AIA Logo transportation credits available in the existing LEED rating system and how they will change with the proposed LEED Version 4, and review the free resources available for companies and builders to implement more sustainable transportation practices and a case study of a large organization on Long Island that is implementing these practices.
Today, transport represents about 28% of total energy GBCI CEU consumed in the U.S., of which about 2/3 consists of personal travel. In fact, studies show that commuting by office workers often accounts for more energy usage than the building itself. In addition, according to the EPA, transportation represents 27% of total U.S. greenhouse emissions.
CEU Available: GBCI: 2.0 CEU, AIA: 2.0 LU
The event will be held at the RXR Building Auditorium on 68 South Service Rd.
