December 17, 2007 - Brokerage
Floorworks International, a Toronto-based company specializing in eco-friendly engineered hardwood flooring, will open its first U.S. showroom in mid-January. The 2,600 s/f facility, called Relative Space, will be located at 2 Bond St., between Bdwy. and Lafayette, in NoHo. Relative Space will enjoy the distinction of being New York's first urban contemporary flooring showroom, devoted to ecologically-advanced wood and carpet products. Floorworks' exclusive product lines include FUSE, SUMO, Carpet Concepts and Vorwerk. "We have been distributing our flooring in the U.S. for many years," said, Tyler Greenberg, managing director New York, of Floorworks International. "But now we can provide developers, architects, designers and homeowners with a tactile experience, an opportunity to familiarize themselves with the product in its many forms, ask questions and learn more about the many benefits of using engineered hardwood flooring." All Floorworks products possess the functional and aesthetic advantages of traditional wood flooring, but are more efficient, longer lasting, and more environmentally friendly. As a result, they are used in a variety of environments, including residential, retail, office and hotel. "Floorwork International's wood collections are designed and manufactured by the company in collaboration with leading architects, interior designers and developers, taking into consideration performance and budgetary criteria imposed by the marketplace," said, Greenberg. "Our product design reflects America's rapidly evolving appreciation of urban lifestyles, which in turn will be reflected in the design of the Relative Space showroom." Floorworks creates sustainable wood flooring in distinctive styles, using several different environmentally-responsible methods and practices. Its two wood flooring product lines - FUSE and SUMO - are oil-finished to retain the wood's natural texture and warmth, provide optimum acoustical and thermal insulation, and are designed for installation directly on concrete below, on and above grade.
