New York, NY The New York Building Congress released its annual Building Congress Across America report, showcasing the scope of its members’ recently completed, in-progress, and upcoming construction and development projects across all 50 states in 2025.
The Building Congress, which represents over 500 organizations with more than 250,000 professionals and tradespeople nationwide, surveyed its members to provide a representative snapshot of the billions of dollars of construction and development activity members are leading. This year’s survey demonstrates the unmatched influence of New York Building Congress members nationwide, with 80+ organizations delivering more than 33,000 projects valued at $1.85 trillion.

Key insights from the report based on the Building Congress’ members include:
• 66% of surveyed organizations are performing work outside of New York State, and over 42% work in the Northeast. The South has 27% of projects, the West has 19%, and the Midwest has 12%.
• Per the Bureau of Labor Statistics, as of April 2025, the total private industry payroll-based construction workforce nationally is 8.3 million, up about 30,000 from last year and continuing steady year-over-year growth. Employment has now well surpassed pre-pandemic levels of 7.5 million.

• Chase Tower Chicago, IL | $540 million.
