Manhattan, NY John Hunt has joined Robinson+Cole as a partner in its construction law group. Hunt’s arrival marks the second partner to join the group in recent weeks, reinforcing the firm’s strategic growth in key markets and its commitment to delivering sophisticated counsel on complex construction matters.
Hunt is an experienced design and construction lawyer with more than 30 years of experience guiding clients through the implementation of effective legal and risk mitigation strategies on complex urban redevelopment projects. His practice spans contract drafting and negotiation, transactional and claims counseling, leveraging insurance products, and advising on legal issues related to large public and private capital projects.

Hunt counsels developers, owners, institutions, construction managers, and design professionals on matters involving design and construction, insurance, risk management, utilities, and public agencies. He has worked on some of New York’s most significant ground-up real estate development projects and operating properties across sectors including sports and entertainment, commercial office, retail, residential, industrial, healthcare, and infrastructure. His prior roles include serving as general counsel for a New York City construction manager and as senior vice president, counsel and risk manager for a major owner/developer.

Hunt co-authored the chapter on payment and performance bonds in the ABA Forum on Construction Law’s book Construction Insurance: A Guide for Attorneys and Other Professionals. He also has a strong commitment to pro bono service, including two decades of representation for the Madison Square Park Conservancy.
