New York, NY The Greater New York Chapter of the Institute of Real Estate Management announced their 2022 award winners. Michael Torres, CPM, IREM NYC Chapter president said, “We’re thrilled to be hosting this event again, honoring the talent, ingenuity and passion of New York City real estate professionals. It’ll be a great evening, one that would not be possible without out industry partner event sponsors, The Durnan Group, Rosenwach Tank and Ideal Security Systems.
Here are the honorees:
Real Estate Person of the Year: Tonya Ores, executive director, Neighborhood Housing Services of Brooklyn CDC, Inc.
Ores is a true champion of community revitalization and sits at the helm of Neighborhood Housing Services of Brooklyn CDC, Inc., a nonprofit housing organization that initiates, develops, and maintains programs designed to create affordable, decent, and safe housing and communities. They renovate, rehabilitate, repair, develop, and preserve housing in Brooklyn, New York, and surrounding areas in conjunction with city, state, and federal government agencies and programs. They also encourage the preservation and growth of healthy, stable, and diverse neighborhoods in Brooklyn, New York and provide economic empowerment by offering opportunities in homeownership, financial literacy, training, job development, and business development.
Certified Property Manager of the Year: Betty Perry, CPM, regional vice president, Conifer
Perry joined Conifer in 2017 as regional vice president, property management. She is responsible for overseeing 60 apartment communities, representing 4,528 units throughout Long Island, New York, and New Jersey. Perry brings a wealth of affordable housing knowledge and experience to her role. Prior to joining Conifer, Perry was a 25-year veteran of Related Management Company, where she supervised 7000+ units throughout New York State. She is an active member of IREM, working with leadership to bring more attention and solutions to the affordable housing crisis and to ensure the industry is well represented in IREM political efforts and communications.
Accredited Residential Manager of the Year: Tina Thiakodemitris, ARM, Ferrara Management Group
Thiakodemitris has been in the property management field for nearly 15 years. She quickly rose to the top of her field, serving first as an assistant property manager before being promoted to manager, where she not only managed properties but also acted as the direct supervisor of the office staff. Thiakodemitris’s wide range of experience in various settings and situations allow her to generate and execute solutions to the most difficult problems a property may face. Tina also sits on the Board of Directors for IREM NYC and is chair of the Chapter Activities Committee.
Accredited Commercial Manager of the Year: Stephanie Caulfield, ACoM, Kimco Realty
Caulfield is a property manager at Kimco Realty and manages over two million s/f of open-air shopping centers in New York, New Jersey and throughout the Midwest. She joined Kimco as a property assistant six years ago and then joined IREM to find out more about the real estate property management profession and off she soared! She became an ACoM in 2019 and a CPM in 2021.
Accredited Management Organization of the Year: PPC Property Services
Manager of Parkchester, a residential community situated on 121 acres in the Bronx, where over 45,000 individuals live and work. Parkchester includes over 160 multi-story buildings, 12,000 apartments and numerous commercial enterprises including major retailers, restaurants and small specialty shops. Parkchester North Condominium, Inc. and Parkchester South Condominium, Inc. are not-for-profit corporations and condominium associations. Although operating separately as two distinct organizations, the two condominiums work cooperatively for the benefit of the community.
Industry Partner of the Year: Ideal Security Systems
Founded by Jason Gross in 2005, Ideal provides high-tech, cutting-edge security throughout the New York real estate industry.
In addition to the award winners, IREM NYC 2022 officers will be sworn in: Michael Torres, CPM, president; Randall Powell, CPM; first vice president; Nicholas Stolatis, CPM, treasurer; Jessica Tusing, CPM, secretary; Ralph Amicucci, CPM; vice president, education; Gail Duke, CPM, vice president, membership.
