Greater New York IREM holds annual dinner on February 7th

New York, NY Matt Duthie of NKF received the Institute of Real Estate Mangament (IREM) Great New York chapter’s Real Estate Person of the Year award on February 7th at the organization’s annual dinner at 230 FIFTH. Gail Duke, Duthie’s friend and colleague, presented the award. In his speech, Duthie extolled the virtues of IREM’s education and designation program saying, “It’s the most important investment you can make in yourself.”

Cushman & Wakefield’s Erin Leahy was also honored by IREM NYC. Leahy received the chapter’s CPM of the Year from Terry Ann Havel.

• “Up ‘n Down: The latest rules and regs on elevator safety and maintenance” on Wednesday, March 27. On January 1, 2020, all elevators must be in compliance with the new elevator safety code. Sounds like it’s a long way off, but it’s not! Don’t panic, though. We’ve got you covered. Join their elevator experts for breakfast and a session that will get you up to speed on all you need to know and do to be in compliance. There will be plenty of time for any other elevator related issues and questions too. Joe Caracappa of Sierra Consulting Group and Rob Cuzzi of Van Deusen & Associates will lead the way, along with reps from the DoB. The event will run from 8 to 10 a.m. at The Union League Club, 38 East 37th St. A full breakfast will be served. The Union League requires all gentlemen wear a jacket. The cost is $60 per person.

• “Managing Maintenance & Budgeting” will be held April 15-18 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Knickerbocker Plaza, 1751 Second Ave. Comprehensive training in property operations by covering property budgeting, accounting, and common financial reports, property maintenance programs, and risk management. After completing both managing maintenance and budgeting track you will have mastered the diverse disciplines involved in maximizing your property’s potential. The cost is: $1,590 for non members and $1,298for members. Register 30 days or earlier prior to the start date and save $100! Course meets program requirements: CPM, ARM, and ACoM.

• Asset Management Track will be held June 17- June 21 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at The Conference Center, 51 Madison Ave. The Asset Management Track is comprised of skill-based courses that, when taken in sequence, progressively build your knowledge of financing and valuation of real estate assets. Students will find the tools they learn here indispensable to the properties and the portfolios they manage.
