Golub joins HFZ Capital Group as general counsel and COO
According to Ziel Feldman, founder and managing principal of HFZ Capital Group, Laurie Golub has joined HFZ as general counsel and COO. Golub was previously general counsel and managing director of business affairs at Africa Israel, USA.
"Laurie's extensive legal background, overall real estate development experience and outstanding relationships with institutional investors will be invaluable as we move ahead on a number of new and exciting development projects in both New York City and elsewhere," said Feldman. "She will play an integral role in the future of HFZ."

Golub has over 20 years of experience in handling complex real estate and corporate transactions. She has a broad base of legal knowledge and business acumen with respect to real estate development, finance and capital markets, corporate restructuring, sales and acquisitions, investments and investor relations, ownership and operation of mixed-use properties, leasing and major league sports.
At Africa Israel USA, Ms. Golub played a major role in restructuring the debt related to the company’s largest assets including the Times Square Building, the Clock Tower and the Miami Marquis and oversaw the sale of its largest assets including the Times Square Building Office Condo, the Clock Tower and 88 Leonard Street. She also oversaw all retail leasing at the Times Square Building.
Prior to joining AFI USA, Ms. Golub served as Associate General Counsel to Forest City Ratner Companies where she played a critical role in all pre-development activities of the $5 billion Atlantic Yards & Brooklyn Arena redevelopment project. She negotiated and closed the acquisition of the New Jersey Nets basketball franchise, provided general counsel services to New Jersey Nets senior management, and led negotiations for the $400 million Barclays Center naming rights transaction.
Ms. Golub was Senior Counsel to Morrison Cohen Singer & Weinstein, where she represented clients on a broad range of real estate & corporate transactions including the sale of the Gotham portfolio of hotels, development of the East Hampton Golf Course, numerous leasing transactions for national retailers, site acquisitions, construction loan and permanent financings to redevelop mixed-use properties for developers, and mortgage loans, re-financings and construction loans for institutional lenders. Ms. Golub began her legal career as an Associate in the Real Estate Department of Paul Weiss Rifkind Wharton & Garrison.

Ms. Golub earned a JD from New York University School of Law and her BS from Boston University, where she was Magna Cum Laude and a Rhodes Scholar Nominee. In addition to being named Real Estate Weekly’s Most Influential Woman in Real Estate for 2012, she was also named one of Real Estate Forum’s 2010 Women of Influence.
