Children's art featured on Montague Street from Brooklyn Carework's Programs
Works of art created by children in workshops offered by Brooklyn CareWorks are featured in the colorful holiday banners that are now on display in the windows of businesses along Montague St., the main street of Brooklyn Heights.
The holiday banner initiative, which was spearheaded by the Montague St. BID, was a collaboration between the Montague St. merchants; Brooklyn CareWorks, a borough-wide mental health agency headquartered on Montague St.; SurroundArt, a full service fine arts company that produced the banners; and the Brooklyn Daily Eagle, which sponsored the initiative.
"We are very grateful to the Montague Street BID, the Brooklyn Daily Eagle, SurroundArt, and all the businesses involved in this collaboration," said Dr. Pamela D. Straker, president and CEO of Brooklyn CareWorks. "By partnering with local businesses we're able to get the word out about the services we provide throughout Brooklyn, and also celebrate the children's art program, which provides a successful therapeutic outlet for our children and produces beautiful art."
Dr. Straker said the art program is part of Brooklyn CareWorks' holistic approach to mental health, which promotes art and healthy lifestyles as ways to improve the overall well-being of clients. The goal of the agency is to raise money in order to introduce additional art programs for children at all of its clinics.
