Manhattan, NY A milestone has been reached for the new office building 412 West 15th St., located in the Meatpacking district, where the final steel beam was put in place.
According to the office building’s architect CetraRuddy, the topping out completes the structure for the modern, 18-story tower. According to CetraRuddy and the developer Rockpoint Group, the new and very prominent downtown building will be completed this year.
At 270 ft. high, the glass and metal-clad tower will be the Meatpacking district’s tallest building, adding 140,000 s/f of new office space to the area.
The lifestyle-oriented office building offers floor-to-ceiling glass, a sleek modern image, and six ample terraces totaling 8,000 s/f of outdoor space.
Together with an adapted historic building that connects to the new tower, the 412 West 15th St. office building offers 250,000 s/f of commercial space including innovative workplaces and ground-floor shops.
The office layouts are almost column-free to provide for flexible meeting and work spaces, communal indoor/outdoor environments, and an exposed steel structure drawing inspiration from the nearby High Line and older buildings in the former warehouse area, which is now teeming with trendy shops, restaurants and clubs.
With contrasting blackened stainless-steel walls and terrazzo floors, the building and its lobbies will project a modern, downtown vibe for tenants and visitors.
“For today’s competitive and challenging work environment, it’s important for the modern office to feel inviting, comfortable and adaptable to ever-changing needs,” says Nancy J. Ruddy, co-founding principal of CetraRuddy, adding that new office buildings and headquarters need to offer employees ways to “work, socialize and relax.”
