Impact Highlight: Describe a recent program, initiative, or process implemented by you and the impact on your firm, organization, or community. I recently led the design and engineering of Halo, SHED Innovation’s new sidewalk shed system. Halo reduces installation and disassembly time with a modular, screwless design that delivers measurable cost savings across projects of all scales. At the same time, it creates a lighter, safer, and less intrusive public experience — raising standards for project economics, efficiency, and quality of life around construction sites.
Beyond Buildings: How do you see innovation in commercial real estate creating a broader impact on communities and the people who live and work in them? I see innovation in commercial real estate continuing to shape how people experience cities every day. Smarter design makes streets safer, more accessible, and more enjoyable. That philosophy guided SHED’s Halo system, which demonstrates how even a single piece of urban infrastructure can raise project outcomes while enhancing safety, accessibility, and the way communities experience their sidewalks, public spaces, and daily surroundings.
Corporate Culture: How does your organization foster a culture of innovation among employees and leadership? For us, innovation starts with openness — to new ideas, challenges, and perspectives. In designing Halo, I worked side by side with SHED’s team to balance engineering precision with cost efficiency. This collaborative model reflects SHED’s culture: testing, learning, and iterating together to transform concepts into real solutions while building an environment where creativity, experimentation, and problem-solving thrive across every project.
Innovative Outlook: Where do you see the biggest opportunities for innovation in the commercial real estate sector? One of the biggest opportunities lies in modernizing how projects are built and managed. Too many methods haven’t kept pace with the way cities evolve, adding unnecessary time and expense. Smarter, more efficient approaches can shorten timelines, lower costs, reduce disruption, and lessen environmental impact. That perspective shapes my work with SHED, guiding how I design and engineer solutions that can transform the future of CRE.
