2024 Women in CRE: Carolina Tejada, Silverstein Properties

Carolina Tejada
Vice President, Operations
Silverstein Properties

Why should this nominee be recognized in our Women in Commercial Real Estate Spotlight?

“Carolina possesses a rare combination of aptitude, work ethic, determination, and an eagerness to learn, which places her on a trajectory for continued success. Furthermore, Carolina strives to be the best, and openly calls for regular constructive criticism, with the goal of constant improvement. Finally, I would be remiss if I did not address the character and moral ethics that Carolina possesses. She is a fine, caring individual, with the social skills required to achieve company goals through collaboration.” - Bill Dacunto, Executive Vice President at Silverstein Properties.

What recent project, transaction, or accomplishment are you most proud of?

I am most proud of the practices and procedure I have put in place with my property management teams, colleagues in other departments and within my own operations team. Every day, particularly in this current market, we are faced with challenges while still working to achieve our financial goals, maintain our properties and increase value. One single project or transaction does not achieve this, it is through multiple strategies, implemented simultaneously, collaboratively, and consistently that we are able to achieve these goals. I’m proud to be a team lead to keep us all on strategy on a daily basis.

Who inspires you most? What qualities do they possess that inspire you?

My parents are my source of daily inspiration. They provided the supreme example of how through hard work they achieved the American Dream. Both came to this country with little to no education and did not speak the language; however through hard work, tenacity, loving and supporting each other, they became business owners, homeowners and enabled their children to obtain college educations. They overcame countless challenges and always maintained grace while under pressure. They always ensured they made time for laughter, faith and love; all still important today to have a well-rounded successful career.
