2024 Women in CRE: Alexandra Teniuch, DeSimone Consulting Engineering

Alexandra Teniuch
Senior Project Engineer
DeSimone Consulting Engineering

What recent project, transaction, or accomplishment are you most proud of?

“The Review Avenue Complex” is a multi-story warehouse comprised of 736,400 s/f flexible floor plates, suitable for 400-500 per s/f loading, with suites starting at 25,000 s/f. It has been one of my most recent honors to be a part of the design team for this class A facility set to open in fall 2025. One specific challenge was how to clear six columns supporting an elevated truck court servicing 72-ft. semi-trucks while accommodating their wide turning radius. The solution was designing 100-ft.-long, 14-ft.-deep, post-tensioned concrete transfer beams that provided the client with space to operate their import services with ease.

What are the most important factors young women should consider when choosing a firm to build their career with?

I have been with DeSimone since graduation, and the two most important things that keep me here are relationships and communication. A supportive, communicative team creates a more successful and fulfilling work environment. Ensure that the company values its people as much as the work they do. Before committing, try shadowing to experience the culture firsthand. This allows you to see beyond tasks and projects and understand where you’ll be investing your time and energy. Ultimately, choose a place where you feel comfortable and empowered to grow both professionally and personally.
