2024 Ones to Watch - Innovators in CRE: Kevin Paul, H2M architects + engineers

Kevin Paul

Kevin Paul oversees H2M’s private sector real estate discipline, which includes private sector architecture and structural engineering real estate teams in Melville and a private sector architecture team in NYC. He manages and facilitates all phases of architectural and design projects from initial studies through construction administration, with a focus on commercial, industrial, institutional, retail, and residential projects in the private sector. His responsibilities include managing employee workflow, hiring staff, and overseeing the discipline’s financial performance.

Innovative Solution:
I make an effort to implement new and exciting technologies into project work wherever possible, and I hire and train people to get the most out of these technologies. This emphasis on innovation helps ensure that my discipline can continue to provide new and existing clients alike with unique, cutting-edge services that our competition may not have caught up to. We’re also privileged to have an in-house Learning + Development Academy at H2M that’s always pushing me and my team to enhance our best practices, embrace new ones, and think outside the box in everything we do.

Innovative Outlook:

The transition from a pre-pandemic to post-pandemic environment has presented a number of great opportunities to redefine how my team and I approach commercial real estate. One big question that has emerged in the wake of the pandemic is what to do with unused office buildings and warehouses. Finding clever ways to adapt and reuse these structures is going to be integral to the future of this industry. Additionally, I have been placing a greater emphasis on appealing to a wide variety of generational needs, which can be especially challenging for spaces with multi-generational populations. More and more, we will have to adopt an inclusive, universal approach to commercial real estate that can accommodate the needs of younger and older users alike.

“Kevin Paul has over 35 years of design and construction experience in both residential and commercial fields. He oversees a diverse array of CRE projects, including healthcare facilities, retail spaces, hotels, and multi-family and mixed-use housing. Kevin works to incorporate cutting-edge technology, such as 3D printers, into his projects, and collaborates with similarly-minded clients to push the boundaries of what the architecture, engineering, and construction fields can produce.” -  Michele Pincus, Esq, H2M architects + engineers.
